Italy flights primarily land at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino International Airport in Rome and Malpensa International in Milan. Leonardo features three terminals, lies 16 miles southwest of Rome and is linked to the city by train and by road. While Malpensa has two terminals, located 24.83 miles northwest of central Milan and connected to Milan by the Milano-Varese highway as well as by the "Malpensa Express" train starting from the Milan Cadorna railway station. Both airports have similar amenities. Airports feature airline lounges; facilities for children, the disabled, and business; banking amenities; postal facilities; tourist centers; restaurants, bars, and shops (including duty-free).
Roaming in Italy
After flights to Italy, you will need transportation. From Leonardo Airport, buses operate nearly 24 hours to Tiburtina. Rails run until late evening to Termini Station every hour, with the trip lasting 30 minutes. Rail lines to Turbtina Station operate until late at night and run every 20 minutes. A courtesy shuttles transports between terminals. Transport fares are generally under EUR 10. Taking a taxi is typically more expensive than other transport methods, except for rental cars.
The Malpensa Shuttle bus runs every half hour to Milano Central Station. The bus ride is about one hour, and the Shuttle service is just under one hour. The Malpensa Express rail to Cadorna station runs every 20 minutes and takes 45 minutes to arrive. Taxi service takes one hour.
